A woman in Brisbane, Australia, was left with puncture wounds after she was bitten by a 5ft carpet python as she sat on the toilet.
It is understood the woman Helen Richards, 59, was bitten by the non venomous snake when she went to the toilet at a friend’s house.
Ms Richards, who was left frightened after she discovered what bit her – was bitten by the snake when she went to the toilet in the middle of the night.
According to experts who retrieved the snake, the reptile made its way into the toilet in order to seek a watery shelter from the extreme heat.
They also said the snake most likely attacked out of fear given that its main exit point was blocked when the woman sat on the toilet.
It is understood the snake was immediately removed from the scene by professional snake handlers and the woman received treatment for wounds at a nearby hospital.
