Two adolescent boys who were abducted, tortured, murdered and dismembered have become the latest victims of Mexico’s brutal narco violence.
Hector Efrain (14) and his friend Alan Yair (12) sold sweets and possibly drugs near their homes in Mexico City’s historical centre. According to Mexico News Daily, they disappeared on October 27th after CCTV footage captured them hopping on a man’s motorcycle.
Their dismembered remains were discovered in boxes being wheeled along the streets four days later. It is believed both youths were abducted and savagely murdered in an apartment by members of La Union de Tepito, an infamous local drugs gang. The gang had heard that the two friends were working as lookouts for Fuerza Anti Union, their main local rival.
Last year over 35,000 people were murdered in Mexico, many at the hands of the country’s brutal drug cartels and street gangs.
