The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) served a closure notice to the CC’s Coffee Dock at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan, Co. Meath, after a rodent issue was reported last April.
According to the FSAI, staff members at the premises initially found a dead rat inside a dustbin on March 23. A few days later, a live rodent fell from an overhead ventilation duct onto the floor at the coffee shop and scampered away.
On a separate occassion, six dead rats were found on a sticky trap.
The premises were shut down on Monday, March 30, and it remained closed while the rodent issue was dealt with.
It reopened again on April 4.
A spokesperson for the HSE said that “Hospital Management are satisfied that the rodent issue in the Coffee Dock has been addressed. A revised contract has been implemented with the pest control contractors.”
