Hospital overcrowding crisis: Over 340 people are languishing on stretchers around the country




According to data from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), more than 340 individuals were on the waiting list for beds in Irish hospitals on Friday morning, reports Breaking News.

According to the union’s daily report on hospital congestion, 87 patients were in other hospital wards and 259 individuals were waiting in emergency rooms.

University institution Limerick (UHL), with 67 patients waiting for a bed, was the institution with the highest patient congestion on Friday, according to the INMO. Following closely after were Cork University Hospital (CUH), where 64 people were waiting in trolleys.

The Health Service Executive’s own statistics show that 228 patients were waiting on trolleys in hospitals under its management on Friday, reports Breaking News.
