The Irish hospital system requires the addition of at least 5,000 new beds to cope with demand, according to a consultant.

Overcrowding reached historic levels yesterday, with 931 people languishing on trolleys. People were actually told to avoid A&Es nationwide and to deal with illness and suffering elsewhere.

Yet, in a move that defies comprehension, the Government has allowed tens of thousands of refugees to enter Ireland, knowing that the country cannot even accommodate or medically care for thousands of its own citizens.
