Citizens in Dublin 15 have staged a protest outside a housing development in Mulhuddart that has been earmarked for non-nationals and have demanded that Irish citizens be treated at least as equal to foreigners applying for social housing.
The protest was organised via Facebook by the “House the Irish First” group that was established after it emerged that only a small minority of social housing units in Dublin 15 were being allocated for Irish families while others alleged , Irish families waited longer for housing that non-national families.
So far, no political candidate in the Dublin 15 area running in the upcoming election has publicly voiced their support for the group despite the hot button issue being likely to be a major vote winner for those courageous enough to brave the inevitable Twitter onslaught for speaking out.
