A grandmother has said that she “never thought she would be evicted into homelessness” when describing how she will have to leave her home with a young member of her family at the end of the month.

According to the Irish Mirror, Paula Byrne Hawes has been living in a two-bedroom flat in County Kildare for the past seven years.  She has to move out because the property has been sold by the owner.

The 55-year-old told the Irish Mirror that she was hoping that the eviction ban would be extended so that she could stay in the property.  She said that the rents are extortionate and there is nothing to rent.  She also told the Irish Mirror that she has been allocated a three-bedroom house by Kildare County Council, but there is no space available for her at the moment.

Ms. Byrne Hawes explained how she was feeling, saying “You’re trying to be brave on the outside but on the inside you’re crumbling. I never thought I’d be in this position that I’d be facing eviction into homelessness at this point in life.”
