How dare you! Greta Thunberg returns to school after her ‘school strike’ to protest climate change

Teenage activist Greta Thunberg is to return to the classroom after a year-long ‘school strike’ she staged to protest climate change.

On Instagram, the 17 year old told followers it was ‘so great’ to be returning to school and posted a photo of herself on a bicycle with her backpack, as Sweden reopens its classrooms this week.
In 2018 the young Stockholm native began protesting against climate change in front of Swedish parliament, igniting a movement that spread across much of the world and encouraged students worldwide to stage ‘school strikes’.

She has twice been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and in 2019 was declared Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. To many people she is a youth icon of hope, demanding drastic change for the sake of her generation’s future. For others, Thunberg represents a cynical marketing ploy brought onto the world stage to ‘greenwash’ world leaders and businesses while selling millions of books.
