Howlin: “It would be in mine and the Labour party’s best interests to complete a full term in the Dáil”

The Minister for Public Expenditure and Labour party TD Brendan Howlin has expressed his wish to see the current collation government complete a full term in the Dáil.

Mr Howlin says he believes that it is currently in the best interests of the Labour and Fine Gael party to complete a full term before the next general election. Mr Howlin told reporters that the Government must stay in the Dáil and fulfil its job by delivering the next Budget and completing its objective of issuing reforms to public sector pay and social welfare.

Although, Mr Howlin claimed that the Labour party would be ready if an early election was to occur. Mr Howlin’s comments come after the Taoiseach Enda Kenny refused to rule out the possibility of an early election, saying he is only focusing on the upcoming Budget.
