The Chief Executive of the HSE Paul Reid has said the entire adult population could be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by late August or early September.
Speaking to RTE’s This Week programme, Reid said the vaccination programme will be significantly ramped up in the coming weeks with the younger cohorts receiving their vaccine.
Reid said that a total of 120,000 Johnson and Johnson vaccines will be distributed this week.
Thr HSE Chief said Ireland’s vaccine programme could be significantly boosted if the Government purchases 1 million doses from Romania.
Although Reid said the programme depends on supply lines, the country could have every adult fully vaccinated by September.
