HSE Chief Paul Reid says Covid-19 still a live threat as cases continue to rise




The Chief Executive of the HSE Paul Reid has said Covid-19 is live threat as cases and hospitalisations continue to rise.

Speaking to Newstalk, Reid said that the rise in cases and hospitalisations is having an impact on the health service.

Reid said that the number of hospitalisations has increased six sixfold over the last six weeks with an increase of 4% in admissions each day.

The HSE said that although vaccinations are having an impact, the number of people in hospital is having an impact on the health service.

Reid went to say that quite a lot of people being admitted to hospital are very sick and they require respiratory support in many cases.

He added that there is a high incidence in all age groups.
