HSE issues warning to parents following a rise of Flaccid Paralysis cases in the UK




Parents have issued a warning to parents to be on the look out for Flaccid Paralysis, following a recent increase in cases in the UK.

According to the HSE’s Health Protection Surveillance Centre, cases in the UK are on the rise, however there has been no reported rise in cases here.

The warning comes after the condition which is believed to be caused by a viral infection has put health authorities in the UK on alert.

Although no cases have been reported on Ireland the HSE have warned parents to look out for symptoms.

Symptoms include: General feeling of weakness, sudden arm or leg weakness, facial droop or weakness,
difficulty swallowing and difficulty moving the eyes.
