Under the terms of the scheme, returning nurses would have their relocation costs paid, including free flights up to €1,500, and also have their €100 nursing registration fee paid.
The scheme was launched last month, in an attempt to fill 500 currently vacant nursing, midwifery, and psychiatric nusing positions.
According to the HSE, there have been 320 applications so far.
