HSE responds to CervicalCheck sacandal by contacting over 180 women as over 7,500 women contact CervicalCheck helpline

In total 181 women have been contacted by the HSE in regards to the ongoing CervicalCheck scandal it has been revealed.

The women who are part of the 208 women that were originally caught up in the scandal, were contacted as the Health Service Executive continues to assess the facts of the ongoing controversy.

Although the HSE say they have to review a further 1,500, they have confirmed they have been actively contacting all women who have been affected by the incident.

Meanwhile the CervicalCheck helpline has recieved over 7,500 calls since it first came into operation last weekend.

The HSE say the vast majority of calls are from women who are concerned about their previous smear test results.

It is believed the HSE’s response to the crisis comes after it was revealed earlier this week that more women could be affected by the scandal.
