Huawei has become the world’s number one smartphone producer, overtaking Samsung and Apple.
The controversial Chinese company overtook their South Korean and American rivals in the second
quarter of this year, having sold some 55.8 million products worldwide.
Meanwhile Samsung’s sales plunged by 30%, and overall global smartphone purchases dropped. Due
to US sanctions creating issues overseas, most of the Huawei’s business growth has been based on
the vast domestic Chinese market.
Experts believe that due to concerns among European, Australian and North American authorities
about the tech giant’s connections to the Beijing government it will be difficult for Huawei to retain
their top ranking.
