Hundreds marched in Tallaght today over Jobstown arrests

There was a large turnout today for a protest march against the 20 people arrested over the Jobstown incident in November last year.

Today’s protest was organised by community groups against water charges, including TD Paul Murphy, who himself was arrested on Monday morning last in connection with Jobstown. He was among the first to be detained.

During the Jobstown protest, Taanaiste Joan Burton became trapped in her car for several hours and was hit by a water balloon.

The string of arrests this week, 20 so far, has attracted criticism by left-wing and other groups, reflecting the manner in which the arrests have been conducted.
