Bord na Mona are expected to amnounce plans later today that will see the loss of 150 jobs by Easter next year.
In what will be a massive restructuring, the company will look to cut a further 850 positions by 2025.
According to RTÉ News, the major job losses will come as the company will look to decarbonise over the next decade.
It is believed the move was made official after the company agreed to stop peat harvesting in new bogs.
Bord na Móna say further job losses will occur over the coming years ahead as the company will look to stop selling peat supplies to the ESB by 2030.
