Met Eireann have upped the ante tonight and have declared a RED ALERT warning for the entire country tonight as Hurricane Ophelia approaches Ireland.
All counties have now been warned to brace themselves for hurricane winds of 130+ klm.
ESB expect major outages right across the country with the national emergency response team claiming many trees will be felled and for people to stay indoors until the hurricane has passed north of County Antrim.
Initially the west of Ireland was in for the worst but then later today, southwestern counties were added. Tonight, a national emergency has been warned by Met Eireann.
