The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has issued an apology to those who he may offended following comments which reffered Fianna Fáil leader Mícheál Martin to a sinning priest.
Speaking in the Dáil on Thursday, the Taoiseach said he wanted to apologise for his comments as they offended people he never meant to offend.
Varadkar who has received strong criticism from opposition TD’s and those within the Catholic Church, told the Dáil that tremendous respect for priests and people of faith and their sacrifice.
He added his comments didn’t come out in the way he intended and he sincerely withdraws his remarks.
