‘I would rather a child repeats a year than die’ – Headteacher writes to parents advising them not to send kids back to school

A headteacher in the UK has written to parents calling on them not to send their children back to school.

According to Sky News, the plea from Howard Fisher at St George’s Church England Primary School in Sheerness, Kent, has called on parents not to follow the British Government’s plan to send children back to school on June 1st.

Sky News reports that the letter which has been widely shared on social media highlights a number of concerns when it comes to social distancing and children’s safety.

In the letter Mr Fisher says that there is no such thing as social distancing in schools as it doesn’t exist and will never exist.

Fisher also states that there is a reason why that childhood related illnesses such as chickenpox spreads in schools as we are all together and regularly come into contact with other, so how can we expect children to go to school in an environment where the Covid-19 virus is believed to be a super spreader.

The headteacher who stated that he would rather have students repeat the year rather than die, also wrote how can expect our children to return to schools in circumstances that will be okay despite the fact there is no reliable vaccine or test available.

Fisher added okay is not good enough when it comes to the precious gift that is your child.
