In same week that it’s revealed government spent €1 million per month on Ukrainian pets, Irish doctors have to beg government to properly fund cancer services

In the same week that it was revealed that the government was spending up to €1 million per month on Ukrainian pets, 21 doctors and researchers were forced to petition Taoiseach Simon Harris for proper funding for national cancer strategy, warning survival rates would decline unless the funding was made available.

The government has spent billions accommodating and providing social welfare and other amenities for asylum seekers and refugees and allocated billions more to establish new migrant plantations across the country but essential services for Irish citizens remain chronically underfunded.

The national health budget alone is considered to be underfunded to the tune of approximately €1 billion while the HSE has still not received a cent of the €20m in additional funding from the Government for vital cancer services.

Late last year the Liberal.ie revealed that the government had spent tens of thousands of euros providing yoga classes for Ukrainian refugees with a significant amount of funding for this frivolity coming from the health budget.
