In the same week that Patrick O’Donovan was giving out about media coverage of the government’s disgraceful handling of last week’s fuel protests, he’s now just signed off on a huge pay increase for the boss of RTE.
RTÉ Director General Kevin Bakhurst is set to receive a €20,000 pay increase, as Media Minister Patrick O’Donovan faces criticism for his comments attacking the national broadcaster’s coverage of the nationwide fuel protests.
The Department of Communications has confirmed that a request has been submitted to raise Bakhurst’s current salary of €250,000, with the Government expected to make a final decision in the coming days.
