There was a special segment on last night’s Ray D’Arcy show about the magnificent success Barretstown has had on thousands of sick children and families in Ireland since it opened its doors in 1994.
Founded by actor Paul Newman, Barretstown “takes illness away” from children for the days and weeks that they spend in the Co. Kildare centre.
Described as “better than Disneyland” by many, Paul’s daughter Clea told of how she picked up her father’s gauntlet and continued to be an ambassador for Barretstown.
Actors Aidan Gillen and Jonathan Rhys Meyers joined parents and kids who’d gone through the centre and got immense joy, fulfilment and love from it.
