Incredible image of an ‘angel in the sky’ is caught on camera thanks to weather phenomenon

A rare meteorological phenomenon captured by a hillwalker in the UK has been attributed as the explanation for the apparent “angel in the sky” appeared over Peak District National Park in Derbyshire.

Lee Howdle captured a photo the phenomenon while out walking in the Peak District National Park last week when he was taken aback by what appeared to be a misty shadow in the shape of a person with a multi-coloured corona surrounding its top half.

Howdle, who captured the breath-taking image said:

“My shadow looked huge. It was in this circular rainbow,” he told SWNS. “I took some photos of it and carried on walking. It was like an angel in the sky over the hills, it was quite magical.”

While weather experts were initially baffled they searched for an explanation only to suggest it was a “Brocken spectre” or “mountain spectre” and is among the “top ten spookiest weather conditions” listed by the U.K.’s Met Office.

It was given the name Brocken Spectre after first being documented on the Brocken mountain in northern Germany.

Still, the image has some people online questioning, do angels really exist?
