Following the arrest and incarceration of Independent TD Mick Wallace earlier today, another independent TD, Clare Daly, has also been taken to prison for refusing to pay an outstanding fine.
Both TDs were charged and fined €2,000 for breaching a security fenc at Shannon Airport. Neither one have paid the amount due.
Wallace was taken to Limerick Prison this morning and released at about 4pm.
Clare Daly has now been taken to the same facility. It is unclear how long she’ll spend in jail.
