A leading Independent TD has claimed that elected TDs should face a serious wage cut if they don’t agree to form a new Government.
The Tipperary TD comments comes as the Dáil has held a second vote for Taoiseach today, and Mr McGrath believes penalties should be imposed if the prolonged stalemate continues.
Mr McGrath told reporters that a time limit needs to be placed on the talks: “I’d give it another two weeks at most. “The country can’t afford it. If we go on much longer the people will decide they don’t need a Government, we are getting on fine without you.”
“They should talk about sending us home or cutting the wages maybe or doing something to focus the minds because it is just a flux situation that is very dangerous. “It is not good for the country or the people.”
