There could be a third terminal on the way at Dublin Airport if the Minister for Transport Shane Ross has his way.
The new terminal which would be solely independent from the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) is being proposed in effort to halt the current monopoly at the airport which is considered to be the fastest growing airport in the EU.
Speaking about the proposal Mr Ross said he will formally seek consultation about the advantages and disadvantages of adding a third terminal in the hope that it will break the stranglehold currently at the airport.
Citing the abolishment of Irish Water as an example Mr Ross explained that the creation of an independent third terminal would be beneficial saying: “To establish independence would make it more competitive and challenge the old ways.”
“That’s what we’re about, and that’s what we’ve done.”
