Ingenuity helicopter’s first flight on Mars has been delayed due to technical issues.
The exact nature of the problem is unclear, but it is understood that the helicopter’s systems automatically shut down as designed to prevent damage, and allow for the issue to be diagnosed and resolved.
The team back on Earth has confirmed however that the small craft is in perfect shape. The maiden flight is now scheduled for April 14.
During its first flight, Ingenuity will rise to an altitude of around 10ft, hover, turn, take a photograph, and land back down on Mars’ surface.
