An inmate at an Irish prison has been found dead in his cell.
Named as Gerard Barrett, he was recently found deceased at the National Violence Reduction Unit, which is part of the Midlands Prison in Portlaoise, Co. Laois.
The death is being treated as a ‘personal tragedy.’
