A 25-year-old inmate has been found dead inside his cell in Limerick Prison early this morning.
The young man, who was serving time for manslaughter, reportedly died of a drug overdose. His body was found at around 4am.
His name will not be released until all relatives have been informed. The dead man was originally from Co. Tipperary.
Both the Gardai and the Prison Service are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
