INMO say we’re now in a state of emergency and want private hospitals to be nationalised to deal with the crisis

The INMO (Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation) has called for the full capacity of private hospitals to be used for the public health system and for it to be fully nationalized in order to provide additional beds and staff in the coming weeks.

According to RTE, the 40,000-strong union said the health sector was under “unprecedented” pressure, noting that the government’s current plans are to use only a third of the capacity of private hospitals which wouldn’t be enough.

The union has also called for an immediate end to the practice of allowing people diagnosed with Covid-19 to return to work, and is asking for help providing child care services to help healthcare professionals. can participate in work work. They also want higher safety standards in areas like PPE.

It’s well accepted now that the country is in a state of emergency to get the crisis under control.
