INTO calls for delayed opening of schools in January

The Irish National Teachers Organisation has called for a delayed opening of schools following the Christmas holidays.

According to RTE News, the request was made by the INTO General Secretary John Boyle who cited concerns over staff shortages.

It is understood that the INTO has written to the Department of Education calling for a delayed opening until January 11th.

The INTO say they are concerned about the number of staff and students who would be required to self isolate after Christmas.
