A person has died from their injuries after being seriously injured after a crush outside a south London venue which was hosting a concert by Nigerian Afrobeats singer Asake.
The 33-year-old woman who died was one of three people seriously injured in Thursday night’s accident.
Her name was Rebecca Ikumelo from London.
Emergency crews were called to the O2 Academy after reports said a large number of people were attempting to force entry to the venue” the Metropolitan Police said, reports RTE.
Officials, rescue workers and firefighters arrived and found scores of people with crushing injuries.
Eight people were taken to the hospital in an ambulance, and two “less seriously injured” were treated on site.
Police said today two other women, aged 21 and 23, remained in hospital in critical condition.
The police asked the approximately 4,000 people present at the crime scene to publish photos and videos of the scene on an online site.
