Gardaí in Co Louth have begun an investigation after a man was attacked during an aggravated burglary in Dundalk in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
It is understood the investigation comes after the man aged in his 50s was attacked in his home in the Toberena area of the town, by three masked men who were armed knives and a hammer.
Although thankfully the victim did not sustain any serious injuries, it is believed that he was struck by one of the intruders during the incident.
Gardaí say the three men ransacked the man’s home before fleeing the scene with a quantity of cash and jewellery.
They added that an investigation is currently ongoing.
