Investigation underway after an acid attack leaves a man hospitalised in Limerick

A garda investigation is underway after a man was attacked with acid in Limrick.
The victim was splashed in the face with a corrosive substance at a house in the Garryowen area of the city. He rushed himself to University Hospital Limerick, where he was fortunately later discharged. This morning a man in his 30s was arrested by and is currently detained at Henry Street Garda
station.

Last year three teens in Waterford were scarred in a similar acid attack. Already well established in the UK underworld, it seems the shocking form of assault may be catching on with criminals in Ireland.
