Investigation underway after two people sadly die and five missing after boat collision on the River Danube in Hungary

A boat mishap on the Danube has left two persons dead and five missing, according to Hungarian police, reports Sky.

On Saturday night, authorities discovered a man with a bleeding head on the coast in Veroce, which is located around 30 miles (48 km) north of Budapest.

Police have discovered the remains of a man and woman close by, leading them to suspect he is a survivor of the tragedy.

A hotel boat at Komarom, more than fifty miles (eighty km) to the west, was stopped due to damage to its hull, reports Sky.

It crashed with a motorboat and was 109 metres (357 feet) long, according to the Hungarian news site Blikk. It was stated that the hotel ship most likely departed from Budapest.

Rescuers discovered the smaller boat’s wreck early on Sunday morning and hauled it to land.

Three men and two women are said to be among the ninety personnel involved in the hunt for them, utilising thermal imaging cameras, boats, and drones, reports Sky.

A person who has not been identified is the subject of criminal charges for allegedly causing death and jeopardising water transportation.

The survivor was discovered in a popular leisure spot along a 460-meter (1,500-foot) section of the Veroce River, reports Sky.
