Iranian teenager beats current world champion Magnus Carlsen in chess tournament





A 16-year-old Iranian boy has surprised many in the chess world after beating current world champion Magnus Carlsen in the final of the Banter Blitz Cup.

Alireza Firouzja defeated Carlsen with a score of 8.5-7.5 in the final of the online quickfire knockout contest.

The teenager bags a $14,000 prize and a great boost to his reputation as an international chess player.
