Ireland is now involved in the aftermath of London’s terrorist attack, after it emerged that one of the perpetrators had an Irish-issued ID card on him at the time of death.
It also emerged that the man may have lived in the Dublin area for some time.
Garda top brass are understood to have met today to discuss this worrying development.
Seven people died, and scores more were injured, after three men used a rented van to run pedestrians down along London Bridge on Saturday. They then abandoned the vehicle and continued their attack using stabbing weapons before being shot dead by police shortly afterwards.
The attack was the third across the UK in as many months.
