A massive Atlantic storm is predicted to lash Ireland next week, bringing with it high winds and a lot of rain over much of the nation, according to weather maps, reports The Mirror.

According to the maps, the massive weather system may make landfall on Wednesday around the island’s west coast before moving eastward.

The jet stream is “powering up” the stormy weather, which might bring low pressure systems and could cause meteorological havoc for Ireland, reports The Mirror.

One Irish weather specialist has identified Wednesday and Friday as possible stormy days, however there is still some ambiguity in the details at this early stage.

Alan O’Reilly shared the latest weather models on his Carlow Weather social media accounts, explaining: “Well the jet stream is heading back towards us with a very messy week ahead. A risk of some low pressure systems developing, bringing some spells of rain. Wednesday, it could stay west of us, but it could hit us, and then again Friday, you’ll see on the charts those low systems developing and possibly coming our way. The exact track of them is a little bit uncertain but the jet stream powering them up wouldn’t be a good thing in terms of some of them becoming very wet and possibly windy as well. No great heat around but there will be some dry spells and there will be some good sunny spells as well so a very mixed week,” reports The Mirror.
