Ireland may be experiencing much greater vaccine hesitancy than the UK

During the last week reported, Ireland averaged about 2,287 doses administered each day. At that rate, it will take a further 433 days to administer enough doses for another 10% of the population reports Reuters. The Irish government has 74.4% of the population vaccinated.

To put this in context, Reuters reports that in the same time period, the United Kingdom averaged about 364,889 doses administered each day. At that rate, it will take a further 37 days to administer enough doses for another 10% of the population.
Currently, the UK government has 80.2% of the population vaccinated.

The disparity in getting the next 10% of the population vaccinated between the UK and Ireland may be due to a higher level of vaccine hesitancy amongst the Irish population, however there may be other contributory factors at play.
