The Irish Blood Transfusion Board has launched an urgent appeal for donations as supplies run low.
It is understood that the current supply level is just three days. Ideally, a 7-day supply is the minimum.
Anyone interested in donating blood for the first time can check their eligibility on giveblood.ie.
