Tributes pour in for Vera Twomey’s teenage daughter who has sadly passed away

The 13-yr-old daughter of a Cork woman, Vera Twomey, has died, reports RTE.

Ava Barry had Dravet Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy that caused daily seizures.

Ms Twomey fought a long battle before giving Ava access to medicinal cannabis, reports RTE.

In 2017, then Health Secretary Simon Harris granted Ava a license to use medicinal cannabis.

Ms. Twomey, who hails from Aghabullogue, Co Cork traveled twice for her from Cork to Leinster House in Dublin to raise awareness of her young daughter’s plight.

Ms. Twomey released a book called For Ava in 2019, in which she shared the struggle her family endured when her daughter was seriously ill, reports RTE.

She was asked to speak at the House of Commons in London in 2019 about the benefits of alternative medicine in treating conditions like severe epilepsy.
