Irish Comedian Sil Fox is suing the State and DPP as does not want anyone else to suffer stress of false allegations

88-yr-old Sil Fox was most recently well known in Ireland as the comedian who starred on RTE’s funny Friday.

But Sil Fox was charged with sexual assault in 2019 and this had a devastating impact on him, his family and his career.

According to Newstalk, Mr Fox was acquitted of all charges after a judge found the allegation was contradicted by CCTV footage. He is now suing the State and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for damages over the decision to prosecute him.

Newstalk reports that Mr Fox said: “I was very upset when I was charged with something I didn’t do. I’ve been in show-business for 50 years, and I’ve never been in trouble in my life… never even in a court before.”

“At my age it nearly killed me. I still haven’t got over it.”

“Pals of mine had funerals… I was just standing at the back. I was afraid to be seen.”
“What I’m looking for is an unreserved apology from the DPP before I die, because I am 88 years of age.”
