The Irish community of London have come together to show express their sympathies for a native Kerry man who died in one of the cities nursing homes with friends or family to comfort him in his final years.

John Lynch (72) who was thought to have hailed from Ballylongford, Co. Kerry and moved to England with his family as a child at the age of just two-years-old.

Despite having lived 70 years in England, Mr Lynch kept the traditions of his native home in his heart often being seen in a Kerry GAA jersey.

Up to a hundred people came to attend his funeral in West London and mourn the departed Irishman.

The case of Mr Lynch is unfortunately all too common with the elderly Irish diaspora in the UK and beyond who receive little in the way or support or communication from Irish government.
