Irish company pays €6 billion for UK medical cannabis drug business




Last month, Minster for Health Stephen Donnelly launched a plan to roll out a Medicinal Cannabis Access Programme in Ireland during 2021.

Just weeks after the Minister’s announcement, a pharma company called Jazz Pharmaceuticals has announced the purchase of UK based GW Pharmaceuticals for a whopping €6billion reports DublinLive.

GW specialises in cannabis research and product development and were the first company to be approved in the US for drugs made from cannabis. GW specialise in relieving illnesses such as epilepsy, MS, autism and GW is a UK-based company which specialises in cannabis research and product development.

GW’s new Irish based owners have their headquarters in Dublin and manufacturing based in Athlone, Co Westmeath.
