The girlfriend of Irish man Alan Haughey who was killed in an Australian road crash paid tribute to the “love of her life” on social media.

Elaine NĂ Meachair posted a photo of the couple on social media captioned “The love of my life!!!” following Haughey’s tragic death.

Alan Haughey (26), from Co. Armagh, was tragically killed in a single-vehicle collision on Saturday afternoon in Kargoolie, Australia. Haughey had emigrated to Australia less than a month before his death.

The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust is helping the family bring the Craigavon man’s body home from Perth.

“I spoke to his brother Mark on Sunday about what we could do.” Colin Bell who runs the trust said.

“His body will be taken to Perth and an autopsy will be carried out and the Claddagh Association will look after the arrangements and we will then pay for it.”

Tributes flooded in from his friends and family on social media, with his close friend Jordan Breslin saying that he was “proud to know him”.

“A man that strived to attain legendary status the world over.” Breslin posted.

“To the people who knew him, and I am proud to say I am one of them, he absolutely was.”
