Under new proposals, the DART service will begin earlier due to rising passenger numbers. The first train will depart Malahide towards the city centre at 5.50am, instead of the current 6.30am.

The Howth service will run from 6am, while commuters will be able to get on the DART at Bray at 5.35am.

According to Irish Rail, DART passenger numbers have risen by 8% this year so far.

Jim Meade, Irish Rail’s director of train operations, has said that: “In particular, our proposed 10-minute Dart frequency will grow our daily service capacity by almost 25%, and make the Dart on weekdays a ’turn up and go’ service from first train in the morning till last at night.”
