A tourist couple’s dream holiday in Ireland turned into a nightmare when their car and all their belongings, including their passports, were stolen on their first day here.

Sebastian Smulders (33) and Lena Weiss (24) came to Ireland on a camping trip, but have now been left with nothing. They arrived from Liverpool and parked their car in the car park of Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Sean McDermott Street.

The couple went sightseeing around the capital for the day, and came back to find their car gone. With the help of a Polish man, they managed to call the guards.

The car, a left-hand-drive 2007 black Opel Astra estate with German plates, has not yet been found.
