Irish Labour Party wants a “fairer, kinder, better” Ireland where abortion is fully decriminalised and healthcare workers are prohibited from having a conscientious objection to abortions

There was a small turnout this weekend, with just over 120 delegates attending the Labour Party national conference.
The small turnout didn’t stop the leftist party passing a motion proposed by their Tipperary branch. Delegates backed the removal of the current 12-week limit for abortion on request. According to RTE the Labour Party also voted for FULL DECRIMINALISATION of child abortion.
RTE did not specifically say that this would mean the legalising of child abortion for any reason, right up to the moment of birth.

The motion also passed for the removal of the three-day reflection period for a mother who is considering aborting her child.
The Irish Labour Party also want to prohibit conscientious objection for healthcare workers.

According to RTE, in his address to the conference, the Irish Labour Party Leader, Alan Kelly said the “time has come again for a new deal. To make Ireland a fairer, kinder, better place”.
