A number of Irish patriots held rallies over the last number of days to protect Irish monuments from what are described as “thugs who are hell bent on causing havoc”.
One such rally was held at Sean Russell’s statue, the IRA chief.
Criminologist and solicitor Malachy Steenson who took part in one of the protection rallies at the weekend told The Liberal
“We need to remember our history in order to appreciate it and learn from it so as not to make the same mistakes again.”
It’s understood that more protection rallies are planned in the coming weeks.
